I attended a quilt show in Lafayette last week and bought some flannel for donation quilts at 2.00 per yard. I was thinking of the trip around the world quilt I made earlier this year. I didn't take any quilt pictures. oh well

We traveled to Pendleton Indiana for a lovely quilt show. It was held in the county historical museum. Behind the beautiful quilts, was all the historical museum pieces which was an interesting bonus. I did add a few fabric pieces to my stash from their fabric sales. haha

I had a finish this week which makes me happy, and, helps with the yearly stash numbers.
At open sew, yesterday, someone, surprised me with a quilt top that she had made with fabric that I had donated last month. First of all, the turnaround time was impressive, and, the fact, that she knew it was my fabric donation. It makes it much easier to let go of my precious fabric knowing someone will enjoy it. She has plans to add a border, too, from some of it.

read moreI have had a trip around the world quilt on my bucket list for a long time. I had tried the Bonnie Hunter free pattern, but, I did not like the outcome. She had promised that any scrappy combination would work, and, I took her at her word. I managed to have scrappy fabrics that did not work. But, I have still admired all of them I have seen. I started investigating the colors and movement, watching and reading and you tube. I was determined to try again. I think the key is to have color groups together in the ...
read moreMy guild has asked me to teach a trip around the world quilt workshop. I agreed, if, I could use what I had on hand. Of course, I would need samples of how to make it. I had a whole bucket of flannel 3 1/2 inch strips, yippee. I am not sure the colors will be a stand out, but, that is the magic of TAW quilts. They seem to do their own thing, no matter what the fabric is. I have the strip sets made, and, it is time to subcut and start laying them out.
No fabric in this week.
I took a gallon bag of scraps to Guild yesterday and put it on the free table. I’m conservatively estimating it at 2 yards, as I could barely close the bag.
Our speaker yesterday was Mary Kerr. She told us grandmother’s flower garden was the pattern most frequently started and never finished over the history of quilting. I adopted a box of fabric at the meeting yesterday, and when I got home and opened it, look what I found.
I guarantee I won’t be finishing it.

For instance, we had my mother in law here for a visit last week. She had not seen the house yet. It was super fun to show her the area. Like me, she is a fan of beach combing so we spent a lovely afternoon wandering at the water’s edge picking up shells ...
